Services
Advanced Buildings have extensive knowledge and understanding in a variety of construction disciplines. We are industry leaders in providing large and technical building repair and refurbishment solutions. We have the speed, flexibility, and the personal touch of a small builder, combined with the expertise, experience and capacity of a large corporate contractor.
About Us
Our VIC team received an afterhours make safe request at 11pm on a Saturday night to urgently attend a property located on a busy intersection, where a drunk driver careered off the road and into the house, causing extensive damage to the garage wall 🏚
What we did:
▪️Fenced off the area to restrict public access 🚧
▪️Returned on Sunday morning to review the conditions and provide a demo/make safe methodology to the local council.
▪️Demolish the precarious brickwork, saving the roof trusses and framing without impacting on the neighbours nor the remainder of the property 🧱
▪️Provided traffic and pedestrian management throughout the works🚦
▪️Works completed within a 48hr Emergency Order issued by the local council

📍Newcastle Senior High School
🛠 Removal of roof tiles, decontamination of asbestos and lead dust within the roof cavity.
Being a special needs school, this project proved to be challenging as works could only be completed outside of school hours and be left in a tidy and safe manner at completion for the following day.
Small building works, such as painting 🎨 , were able to be carried out after school hours during the term, whereas the asbestos dust and lead remediation works had to take place over the 2019 Christmas school holidays, completed before school resumed in January 2020.
WHS precautions were taken to make sure that all trades were working safely at heights and extra considerations for the hours they worked in hot conditions during the summer weeks ☀️🧴

🛠 Science Lab Construction🔬
The project required strong attention to detail ensure the two new science labs were built correctly and in accordance with the Education Facilities Standards and Guidelines (EFSG).
We brought all services up to code and installed within the new design, including new communications for classroom technology and plumbing services for the labs.
All the works had (and were!) to be completed within 8 weeks and with minimal defects.
We provided the Department of Education “as-built” drawings at the completion of works.

📍Compass Housing – Muswellbrook, NSW
🔥Fire
Advanced Buildings were asked to price a new for old residence on this property that had caught fire 🏚
The site soil classification, which refers to the way the soil reacts to changing moisture content, was nominated at a H2 Class P site, which consists of highly reactive clay.
The Team designed new foundations and the sub floor area to be constructed with screw piers coupled with an adjustable connection to connect to the floor frame.

With Christmas just around the corner, builders, sub-contractors, and workers will be under increased pressure to have jobs completed prior to the holiday period.
During this time, it is important to ensure that safety measures are not ignored, and short cuts are not taken to complete the works. 🦺🛠
Here are a few pointers for supervisors and site workers to take note of to ensure everyone remains vigilant in maintaining site safety:
✔️ Supervisors should increase communication between themselves, trades, and customers – site inductions, toolbox talks, or informal chats can help keep safety a priority.
✔️ Be mindful of Worker Fatigue – this becomes an issue during this period when workdays become longer, and the temperature rises. Fatigue can affect judgement, resulting in workers making mistakes or not identifying risks.
✔️ Prepare your construction sites to be unattended over the holiday period by reviewing and implementing controls that ensure the site is safe while closed. Unattended construction sites can expose the public and unauthorised persons to significant hazards and risks.
It is important to start planning early to reduce the occurrence of accidents, the threat of risks and to ensure all have a lovely and safe Christmas holiday 🎄🎄

The message for R U OK? Day this year is “There’s more to say after R U OK?”
In a year when we have experienced devastating bushfires that burnt our beautiful land, to a global pandemic that has and still is affecting all near and far, we’re more likely than ever to hear someone say “No, I’m not OK.”
And it’s not always easy to find the words to continue the conversation when someone has said they’re not OK. But it could change a life.
We don’t have to be experts but, by reaching out to a friend, a family member or co-worker and letting them know that we’re there for them to listen, to care and to support them when they’re going through the ups and downs of life, they’ll know they can open up to us.
By knowing what to say next, we can help others around us feel safe and to access the appropriate help before they reach breaking point, and make a positive difference to their life.
Over the past couple months, due to the unusual working conditions, our teams have not been able to work together in our offices and see friendly faces everyday. Today, we gathered the Advanced Buildings team to share a socially distanced lunch together!
Conversation cards and conversation starters were printed out and place on all serving stations and tables, available to all who joined for lunch. Our General Managers reminded us that their doors are always open and phones are always on hand for anyone who needs someone to speak to or someone for support.
R U OK? Day 2020 might be coming to an end but the conversations shouldn’t stop. Everyday is the right day to ask, “Are you OK?” to anyone in your life that you know of or feel like they are battling with emotions, their own thoughts and daily life.
Because a conversation could change a life.
You can learn what to say at www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask
At Advanced Buildings, the mental safety and well-being of all our staff is of utmost importance. We strive to provide useful resources and ways for those in need to reach out, speak out and seek help.
Thank you @mates_qld_nt for talking with our QLD team and taking them through the Blueprint Process!
