Meet Chris Williams - Supervisor/ Estimator at Advanced Buildings ACT/NSW
Chris Williams knows that the most challenging part of his job is to keep the communication flowing throughout a project.
Good communication ensures the client is fully aware of what’s happening on their project. It also means the trades working on the job have a clear understanding of what’s expected of them and how the program is to progress.
“Having a good relationship with the client is vital, especially in this industry. When the client has confidence in us, it makes a huge difference to the smooth-running of any job,” explained Chris.
Chris is currently a Site Supervisor and Estimator for the Canberra region, a growing area of work for Advanced Buildings.
Chris originally qualified as a carpenter. With a solid background in site supervision for project builders and commercial fit-out companies, plus experience working as a team leader and project manager for an insurance builder, he’s got what it takes to ensure jobs are done on-time and to the highest standard.
One of the jobs he’s most of proud of is his work on Canberra Hospital.
“The Canberra Hospital project was a complete refurbishment of the Emergency Department, Ambulance and Mental Health Department. It’s a busy hospital, as you can imagine. We got the job done while the hospital was in full swing, including all the comings and goings of the Emergency Department.”
“In my job, it’s important to have a close attention to detail. That’s how we’re able to maintain our reputation for quality work on every project. "
Chris appreciates the encouragement he receives at Advanced Buildings.
“Senior management really support you to learn new skills and encourage you to progress,” said Chris.
Away from work, enjoys spending time with his family.
“I’ve got four kids and I now have three awesome grandkids – all born in the same year! As a family, we enjoy motor-bike riding and camping together. I also don’t mind a game of golf.”
